Syx software helps Artis Royal Zoo manage its ticketing

Artis Royal Zoo in Amsterdam is home to some 750 species of animals, including zebras, giraffes, elephants and chimpanzees, making it an immensely popular attraction for kids and animal enthusiasts.

But there's more to Artis than animals, as it's also home to 300 species of trees and many gardens that blossom beautifully every spring and summer. You won’t find another spot in Amsterdam that has more nature per square metre.

One of the great qualities of Artis is that it creates natural living environments for the animals, which you can experience too. One moment you’re at an African savannah with wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, the next moment you’re in the Aquarium surrounded by coral reefs and sharks. In there you also get an impression of what kind of animals live in the waters of Amsterdam's canals.

Artis Royal Zoo is also home to the biggest Planetarium in the Netherlands and a wealth of well-preserved 19th century architecture. Next door you'll find the Micropia museum, which focuses on the microscopic world. And beyond the zoo's walls, the Plantage district is one of the leafiest and pretty neighbourhoods in all of Amsterdam.

Since 2015, Artis has been using several ReCreateX modules such as ticketing, POS, membership, bookings, access control, file management, financial administration, direct debit, self-service kiosk, stock and business intelligence.

The web shop allows visitors to order tickets online. Tickets can of course also be bought at the entrance at one of the seven POS systems.

The entrance of the zoo is not equipped with physical access control systems, instead an enthusiastic Artis employee welcomes all visitors and scans the tickets with a mobile scanner, a personal approach that fully fits the zoo’s mentality.

The souvenir shop also has a POS system for selling shop articles with ReCreateX. Micropia was equipped with two POS systems and a self-service kiosk for ticket sales. Integration with access control was also provided.
